School News

KMSF Survey
Thanks to everyone that filled out the survey
We received over 200 responses and are
still going through all the answers
A few things were very clear
FIRST - Thank you so much for all the wonderful thing
you had to say about KMSF
There were 2 consistent criticisms that we are going to
deal with first
1. The floor mats in training rooms 1, 2 and 3.
We have hired someone to come in this month and
scrub/disinfect them with a machine and we will
see if that works................let us know
2. Punching shields
The ones that have holes in the seams were repaired and we are working
on a system where they will be deodorized more often will keep you updated
We are going to add a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu class
We are working with Lana to fit a weekly 2 hour class into the schedule
we are tenitivly looking at Saturday 12-2PM
MORE TO COME as we get thru all of your remarks

Daniel Lord DC, CCSP received his Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Palmer College

of Chiropractic West in 2008 and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biological
Sciences from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. He completed postgraduate
work as a Certified Chiropractic Sports Practitioner, and is certified in the
Funcional Movement Screen and the Selective Functional Movement Assessment.
Dr. Lord has a background of Sports Chiropractic experience being the President
of the Palmer College of Chiropractic Sports Council in 2008 and being a part
of the medical staffs at the Escape From Alcatrez Triathlon, Susan G Komen Breast
Cancer
Walk, The Sea Otter Classic, North Face Endurance Challenge, Lalanne Fitness team
doctor, Mad Dog Lassies Girls Soccer, and the International Children's Games. Dr.
Lord
uses an integrated clinical approach using Chiropractic, Myofascial Release, Graston
Technique, kinesiology taping, mobilization, and exercise rehabilitative techniques.
Dr. Lord currently practices at Chiro-Medical Group, San Francisco's premire
sports-medicine clinic. He looks forward to helping you feel better, perform better,

and be at your best.

If you don't look at the target you are likely to miss.
When getting ready to defend against a possible physical attack focus on the chest
right below the neck.

This will enable you to read the other persons movements faster and react faster
if or when the person

moves toward you. Once you negate the threat and before your first strike change
your focus to where you

want the strike to hit for maximum effect. In a real situation every strike counts
and should be as accurate

as possible. When training in class look at a specific spot on the focus mitts or
pad and really try to

make contact at that exact point and that way in a real situation you will be able
to respond

much more efficiently.

CrossFit News

Our Crossfit Team is having an art sale. Photography is on display and can be purchased
as is,
or without the frame. We are helping Aaron raise the money needed to get his Crossfit
Certification. Come support an up and coming artist, whose goal is to become an
awesome trainer.
October has opened a 30 Day Paleo Challenge for the athletes of Crossfit KMSF.
Chasing
performance, the right diet is crucial for optimal output. It was a $25 buy in,
and the winner takes
home the pot. For more information on Paleo Eating, make your way down to the basement
and see
what it's all about.
Also in October, we will be doing another seminar at California Strength with Glen
Pendlay and his team. Olympic Weightlifting is what's on the menu and with it brings
Power, Speed, Strength and Agility.

When & How did you first hear about Krav Maga?

I first heard about Krav Maga while watching the Discovery channel show "Human

Weapon". I thought this is a pretty cool and a practical thing to learn. Also at
that time I was

looking for some form of exercise/martial arts that I want to get into for health
reasons

(losing weight) and something that won't bore me.

What's your favorite aspect about Krav Maga training?

I love the practical and modular aspects of Krav Maga training. It's practical because

it's very easy to learn. Everyone can learn it, all you need is the willingness
and

patience to go for it. It's modular because everything you learn from the beginner
levels builds up

and is applied even in the master level. There are no wasted techniques.

What's your favorite Krav Maga technique?

I love doing kicks (groin, side, frontal), hammer strikes and various punches because
these are the

ones you are gonna rely on in a pinch. I love the simple and practical defensive
and offensive

techniques.

What's your most memorable Krav Maga test or training story?

When I did my krav belt test it ran a little longer than usual (around 5+ hours)
due to the amount of

people being tested (we had around 30+ people I think) but I'm glad I stuck with
it till the end. I was

dead tired but I was thinking to myself if I can last thru this, I can last thru
anything. For me

it's a personal achievement.

What's your life like when you're not taking classes?

Well I work for a travel agency in their IT (information technology) department.
I'm a homebody kind

of guy so I don't usually go out. I like to read novels, watch netflix or play video
games, or just relax

while listening to music.
